These workshops have been accredited by the Royal College of Nursing Accreditation Unit
Designed and open for all healthcare professionals to gain the knowledge and effective practical skills to support the motivational needs of people with diabetes. The workshop programme will include:

    Therapeutic Patient Education 2008
    Self Management Support and Education in Diabetes and Other Chronic Diseases including the 4th International Dawn Summit taking place in Budapest, Hungary, November 5-8 2008.

    TPE 2008 including the 4th International DAWN Summit covers the latest advances in therapeutic patient education and self-management support in diabetes and other chronic diseases. The DAWN (Diabetes Attitudes Wishes and Needs) program is a global Novo Nordisk initiative in collaboration with the International Diabetes Federation and an international expert advisory board.

    Diabetes UK Annual Professional Conference
    Diabetes UK's Annual Professional Conference (APC) is one of the largest healthcare conferences in the UK attracting over 3000 attendees.     One day carbohydrate counting skills workshop
    This specially developed 1-day training workshop has been developed by DAFNE Dietitians who have a wealth of experience of training HCPs and people with Type 1 diabetes to estimate the carbohydrate content of food.
    There are 4 separate training workshops available during 2008; each with the capacity to train 20 individuals.

    MSc Health Sciences (Diabetes), Warwick Diabetes Care
    This course is part of a portfolio of continuing professional development and post-experience courses developed in conjunction with Warwick Diabetes Care.
    The course has been designed for health professionals who wish to develop a special interest in diabetes care but would also like to take some modules on other topics.
    This makes it possible for the area of special interest to be reflected in the degree title, MSc Health Sciences (Diabetes), while allowing the flexibility for work in a wide range of other areas (including medical education, health services management, public health) to count towards the degree.

    Master in Diabetes, Warwick Diabetes Care
    New in 2005 the Masters in Diabetes provides a programme dedicated to diabetes for those wishing to specialise. It aims to give GPs, hospital doctors, specialist nurses and other health professionals involved in the care of people with diabetes, the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high quality care. Practitioners will develop their skills so they can lead diabetes care for their organisations, overseeing the delivery of care in their community.
    Duration of course: The Warwick Masters in Diabetes can be studied over 3 to 8 years part time or 1 year full time. Entry Requirements: First degree or equivalent and current registration as a health care professional and at least two years post registration experience in Diabetes. Candidates without a degree will be admitted to a PGA and may progress upon successful completion of the award. For further advice contact:

    Warwick Diabetes - Certificate in Diabetes Care CIDC
    provides health care professionals with the practical knowledge and skills necessary to provide an effective and efficient service for people with diabetes.
    To enable students to combine work and study, the course is undertaken over nine months and comprises five days of supported study sessions, work-based learning, practical experience and self-directed learning. The five study days take place over the first 6 months during which you will take an active role with opportunities to share experiences and practice with others on the programme.
    Learning outcomes are set for each part of the course. The study sessions encompass 30 face-to-face study hours and in addition you will undertake self directed learning. A CIDC course workbook and resources are provided at the first session.
    The CIDC course can be undertaken on site at the University of Warwick, off site in your locality or via CD-Rom.

    Obesity and Eating Disorders in Diabetes, University of Warwick
    The course will cover the diagnosis and management of obesity and common eating disorders in people with diabetes. The course is intended for GP's, hospital doctors, nurse practitioners, community nurses, dietitians and other health care workers involved in the care of people with diabetes.

    This course provides an introductory overview of diabetes care, with the person with diabetes as the centre of focus.
